Film synopsis:
A picket line on an autumn evening. Flags, songs, a piece of sidewalk. An ordinary scene. But not in Hénin-Beaumont. That evening, the Escapade cultural center, one of the town’s historic sites, went on strike. A struggle that broke the apparent silence of everyday life. While Mayor Steeve Briois wants to municipalize the cultural center, behind this decision we discover a certain history of violence on the part of the RN against its opposition, which tarnishes the image of “dédiabolisation” sought by the party. It’s a history of abuse, defamation and contempt. And on the other side, a human collective born, experimenting, united in defense of popular theater.
A story of a struggle being created where it should never have been. Two visions of culture clash, two visions of how to build a world together. A story that sounds like a warning for what’s to come.

Actress and music video director, Des Nimbes au Monde is my first feature film. Hénin-Beaumont is my town. I grew up there, I lived there. L’Escapade was a building site for me. When I saw it under attack, I knew I had to do something. That this film could be a response.
