Atelier de Kogümi via le CERC
On May 20, 5 ÉSAD Pyrénées students will join the electroacoustic class of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional Pau-Béarn-Pyrénées in a collective practice session on alternative playing interfaces, led by collectif Kogümi.
“Students bring their own sound material - sounds captured, worked on and explored over the course of the year - and engage it in a shared device designed for real-time play. Alongside more conventional stage controllers, they manipulate interfaces designed by Kogümi: the Yogurt, a color sensor that translates hues and their variations into MIDI playing parameters, and the Octopus, a modular controller designed for physical, distributed interaction.
In the space of around two hours, the group collectively builds a live composition: an open form, negotiated in real time, where each gesture on the interface becomes a musical proposition addressed to the others.
The challenge is not so much to produce a finished piece as to test together what playing collectively can mean when the tools themselves have to be questioned.”
*Workshop organized in partnership with L’Atelier du Neez (Jurançon, 64) for the Super Parquet concert.
