Dreams of forms - Cordées de la réussite
Restitution of workshops held in middle and high schools (in French)
May 21-24, 2026 - Pau
As part of the “Cordées de la réussite” program, ÉSAD Pyrénées regularly develops educational projects in partnership with local schools. These initiatives enable students to discover art and design courses while experimenting with creative practices alongside students from the school.
This year, students from Lycées Louis Barthou and Honoré Baradat, as well as Collège Clermont, took part in a workshop led by 3rd-year multimedia graphic design students: Claire Ducasse, Corentin Guégand, Lucie Gracet-Mahé, Lisa Hallouin, Andréa Le Goff and Loubna Makhchane.
A workshop inspired by Gaby Bazin
The project is based on the exhibition Imagier flottant by Gaby Bazin, presented at Le Bel Ordinaire, which the students and their teachers (Lili Aguer, Corinne Guichet and Merry Lau) visited beforehand.
Illustrator, graphic designer and author Gaby Bazin explores the stylization of forms, the processes involved in making images, and the narrative logics arising from their combination.
Experiment with modular design
Echoing this approach, ÉSAD students designed the Rêves de formes workshop around the principle of modular drawing. Three normographs, specially created and manufactured in the school’s FabLab in transparent Plexiglas, were used as creative tools.
These supports enable images to be composed from simple shapes, by repeating, combining and superimposing them. Pupils explored a range of techniques, from dabbing flat areas of color to tracing with felt-tip pens or pencils.
Using this protocol, they created two-color compositions in a common format, evoking :
- on the front: a dream
- on the reverse: a nightmare
Interactive feedback
Conceived as an extension of the creative process, the restitution also takes a modular, participatory form. The public is invited to manipulate the images: turning them over, moving them around, recomposing them.
These interactions allow new associations to emerge, whether narrative, poetic or abstract, and constantly renew the reading of the exhibition.
