Aurore Patrolin - Après le diplôme

Aurore Patrolin, a former student of the ÉSAD Pyrénées Pôle Image, Édition & Dessin de caractères - graduating in June 2021 - has designed the visual identity for one of the EHESS research centers.

“I joined EHESS for 6 months as a graphic designer/art director intern. I worked on creating the visual identity for one of EHESS’ research centers, the CRJ (Centre de recherches sur le Japon). In consultation with all those involved in the center, I set up the foundations of a functional graphic system, based on an analysis of what already existed and on interviews to ensure that the proposal matched the needs.

This project was carried out in a context where the clients were not specialists in communication and design, and where it was necessary to show pedagogy to justify one’s creative choices. My knowledge of Japan and Japanese culture was an asset I was able to draw on, both for dialogue with the members of the CRJ and for creating graphic codes that made sense, particularly in the choice of shapes, bilingual fonts and the meaning of colors.”
