Geörgette Power, The language barrier

Geörgette Power will give this talk as part of her exhibition at Bel Ordinaire “La barrière de la langue “*.

Bringing together a selection of works produced from 2020 to the present day, the exhibition invites visitors to discover Geörgette Power’s artistic universe. Built around a narrative approach marked by free translation processes, her writing - visual, sonic and textual - is permeated by the themes of dreams, landscape, language and identity.

To the pleasure of contemplation are added linguistic intrigues and enigmas, disseminated directly in the works or in their titles, openly triggering the game of interpretations. Wandering through this fragmentary narrative can be illuminated by the sciences (botany, biology, astronomy, linguistics) as well as by poetry. Between dream and awakening, reality and modeling, nature and artifice, synthesis and simulation form leitmotifs from room to room.

In REM sleep, we pass through the barrier. Snoring turns into saxophone notes. A few insects contemplate Brownian motion in a puddle. A clock hand stares at you. Dreamlike, automatic, human speech, as well as chirps and buzzes, punctuate the visit.
