Interview with Lucia Sagradini in conversation with Philippe Fangeaux
.

Passe à la maison offers artistic moments inside domestic spaces.
For this first event of the year, the center d’art contemporain invites Lucia Sagradini to present her latest book, L’œil hanté. L’art en alerte, 1919-1983, in conversation with Philippe Fangeaux.

Considering the power of images while seeking to escape their power, the enslavement of both the image and the viewer. Always seeking, alert, the subversive dimension of images. Such is the subject of this essay. Looking implies the action of grasping the image and moving beyond passivity and contemplation, combining our histories, knowledge and even our ignorance, to give it meaning. In a world where virtual modes construct and support the phantasmagorias of capitalism, and where images, their flows, actively participate in increasing the passivity of beings, atony, fear and alienation, the possibility of understanding that looking is a political action becomes essential.

*Essay by Lucia Sagradini, PhD in sociology of art and culture, professor of art history and theory at ESAD des Pyrénées (Tarbes).
Philippe Fangeaux is a painter who teaches painting at ESAD des Pyrénées (Tarbes).
