Édition des étudiants du pôle Image, édition et dessin de caractères
How do you edit a landscape? How do graphic and editorial choices contribute to the construction of a vision? Students at the ÉSAD Pyrénées* ‘Image & édition & dessin de caractères’ master’s program have designed an edition that puts into perspective the different approaches to landscape taken by publishers, photographers and designers for whom the book is conceived and produced as a place for telling the story of the territory.
Based on a selection of six books and a series of interviews with Guillaume Bonnel, Mari Campistron and Amélie Fontaine, Ilanit Illouz, Nelly Monnier, Giaime Meloni and Thomas Petitjean / Spassky Fischer, Guillaume Grall and Benoît Santiard / Building Books, the edition produced at the school presents sensitive, fragmentary and sometimes even speculative accounts of the complexity of contemporary territorial situations.
Corresponding to one of the six works studied, each notebook functions as a fragment of landscape that can exist on its own, while at the same time contributing to an overall composition. The whole forms an editorial cartography to be explored, unfolded and traversed. A seventh booklet summarizes the project.
